Kaley, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey

Kaley is a member of the Best Fitness Friends and a major antagonist in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. She is a pink bird-like creature who attacks using her special sound-based skill Discord, which lowers allies' accuracy, and acts as the group's aerial fighter (with the Flying type status).

Kaley initially presents herself as peppy and upbeat, to the point of acting hysterical when revealing to Bowser Jr. and his minions that Bowser's Castle is under attack (which she is aware of as one of Fawful's minions). However, it is revealed that she is quick to anger; she also makes frequent reference to supplements in her dialogue, suggesting that she is dependent on them. Even though she is one of the Best Fitness Friends, Kaley is not much into fitness and eats a lot when stressed, based on Ludwig's intel while he was disguised as Beef.

She is first battled in Dimble Wood, after Ludwig reveals that he has been disguised as Beef. She is then battled again in Bowser Path alongside Dieter and Beef, before being fought alongside the two of them in the final battle. She then merges with them to form the final boss before eventually being defeated for good. Notably, she is the only one of the BFFs who is ever fought without the rest of the group.

Profile

Naming

"Kaley" is a pun on "kale", a type of cabbage commonly associated with health food, fitting her literal light weight and aligning with the Best Fitness Friends' fitness-based naming theme.

In the English version of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, when encountering the BFFs in Bowser Path, Dieter refers to Kaley as "Leana" instead.[1][2] This is possibly an early name for her that was left in the script by mistake.
